2015 is the Year of Food and Drink in Scotland, the chance to spotlight, celebrate and promote Scotland’s natural larder and quality produce to our people and our visitors. And indeed, Perth’s bakers, Murrays, are leading the way, triumphing at the World Scotch Pie Champion with their infamous Scotch pie!
A record number of 567 products were entered into The World Scotch Pie Awards, which has ten categories, by almost 100 Scottish butchers and bakers. The winning Scotch pie, which is considered the main award, came from Murrays Bakers.
Linda Hill, of Murrays Bakers, said: “I am delighted. To have been given the ultimate accolade and to be able to call our pie the world champion, as judged by a panel of experts, is just fantastic.
“This award is proof that the Murrays team is the best in the land. I am really looking forward to the year ahead and to selling more of our winning pies than ever.”
You can sample some for yourself, just visit Murrays Bakers which is located in the South Street, Perth!
